As Google updated its security mechanism, Gmail\u2019s SMTP service has new rules. You should follow the 2 steps below to get your Gmail account working as the motion detection sender.\uff08Customers report that starting from June 2021, gmail has stopped the SMTP permission of third-party APPS software. If your Gmail test fails, you can switch to yahoo’s SMTP service. Our test is effective. The steps for setting up Yahoo’s SMTP service are at the bottom of the article.\uff09<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1.Activate the 2-step verification of your Google account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2.Generate a new app-specific password<\/strong>. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Below are the detailed steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2460 Log in your Gmail account and go to \u201cAccount\u201d \u2013 \u201cSecurity\u201d \u2013 \u201cEnable 2-Step verification\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2461 After you activate the 2-Step verification, go to \u201cAccount\u201d \u2013 \u201cSecurity\u201d \u2013 \u201cApp passwords\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Create a new app\u2018s name as something like \u201cSUNBA PTZ\u201d so that you know the app is for our PTZ camera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And google will generate a 16-digit password automatically. Please copy this password. <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2462 Enable the Snapshot Email Function:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enable the Motion Detection Function: Setting -> Alarm-> Video Motion<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Setting -> System-> NetService-> Email<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: User Name does NOT contain<\/strong> \u201c@gmail.com\u201d. The password is NOT <\/strong>the google account\u2019s password but the app password <\/strong>(16-digit password you just generated).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: Please make sure your camera can be connected to the Internet first and the \u201cNat Status\u201d is connected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, please make sure the DNS is 8.8.8.8 if you are using Gmail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please make sure the SMTP service of your email can enable third party software, otherwise you will not be able to receive email alerts from the camera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yahoo SMTP setting steps:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Go to the Yahoo account help page or security settings page: https:\/\/help.yahoo.com\/kb\/generate-manage-third-party-passwords-sln15241.html<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
